StageMate turns sheet-music pages with a blink or a head movement, and the core feature set is free - PDF and image import, annotations, two-page reading, a tuner and a metronome, on both iOS and Android. But what actually made me trust this product is the copy. The features page reads like it was written by someone who has been burned by app-store overpromising: "Availability depends on the platform and app version," "enhancement cannot recover missing detail," "Check the results before saving" on the AI score-info extraction. Every free feature is marked FREE, every quota is stated up front (5 extractions per month), and the sensitivity settings come with the advice to test before performing, which is exactly what a working musician needs to hear. The most important disclosure is the one most developers would bury: iOS and Android do not interoperate - libraries, sharing and purchases do not transfer between platforms, with iCloud on Apple and separate account cloud storage on Android. Telling me that before I download is the difference between a limitation and a betrayal. It is also, to be fair, the product's biggest real weakness: a musician with an iPad at home and an Android phone at rehearsal has to pick one ecosystem and live there, and Pro purchases not transferring stings. I would put that trade-off in the headline FAQ, not just the features page, since it is the first question a dual-device user will ask. Minor note: the direct APK option alongside store installs is a nice touch for Android users. Four stars - a genuinely useful, honestly-documented practice tool; the fifth star waits on some path to cross-platform continuity, even a one-time export.
