Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Favors.dev(the “Service”), a community where founders earn points by performing verified marketing favors for other founders and spend those points to get help with their own launches. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use Favors.dev. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other entity, you represent that you are authorized to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Your account

You sign in with a magic link or a connected GitHub account. You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your email and connected accounts secure. Provide accurate information and keep your profile up to date.

3. Points and the economy

Points are an in-app unit used to request and reward marketing favors. Points have no monetary value. They cannot be purchased, sold, transferred for money, redeemed for cash, or exchanged for anything outside the Service. We may grant, adjust, withhold, reverse, or remove points — including clawing back points already awarded — where an action is not genuinely completed, is later undone (for example, a backlink or review that is removed), is fraudulent, or otherwise violates these Terms. We may change how points are earned, priced, or spent at any time.

4. Paid upgrades

Some parts of the Service are optional paid upgrades, such as a Featured listing, directory submissions, a promotion to our audience, a video review, or an editorial article. Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details. All upgrades are one-time purchases, not subscriptions, and nothing recurring is charged.

Paid upgrades never include points or favors. Buying an upgrade does not grant points, fill a favor request, or oblige any member to do anything for you. What you are buying is placement, exposure, or work performed by us. This is deliberate: as stated in section 3, points cannot be purchased.

Where an upgrade includes work we perform by hand, the turnaround shown at checkout is our target, not a guarantee, and it runs from the time we have everything we need from you. Where an upgrade includes publication or promotion to an audience, we are describing the placement we will give you, not a promised number of views, clicks, signups, or rankings. See section 9.

Refunds. If we have not delivered an item you paid for, you can ask us to cancel it and we will refund it in full. Once an item has been delivered, it is not refundable, because the work has been performed and, in the case of a published link or article, cannot be un-published from third-party sites. If you believe something we delivered was not what was described, contact us and we will put it right. We may refuse or refund an order, and remove a paid placement without refund, where the product breaks these Terms, is unlawful, or misrepresents itself.

A Featured listing still has to meet the same listing standards as a free one, including a real description and screenshot. If your listing does not yet meet them, your purchase is not lost: the upgrade applies as soon as your listing does.

5. Favors, verification, and proof

When you accept a request, you agree to perform the favor as described and to submit truthful proof. Favors and submissions are verified — automatically, by the requesting founder, and/or by us. We may reject or reverse any submission we determine is incomplete, inauthentic, low-effort, or misrepresented. Reviews, testimonials, and endorsements must reflect your genuine, honest opinion and must comply with applicable advertising and disclosure laws (including FTC guidelines). Do not post fake, incentivized-but-undisclosed, or misleading endorsements.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• game, automate, or manipulate the points economy, favorites, rankings, or verification;
• submit false proof, spam, or create fake or duplicate accounts;
• post unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful, or harmful content, or promote a product you are not authorized to represent;
• scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security;
• use the Service to send spam or to violate the rights of any third party.

We may suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, and reverse points for any violation.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you submit — your project details, profile, feedback, and other materials. You grant Favors.dev a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate and promote the Service. Project listings, profiles, and leaderboard standings are public by design. You represent that you have the rights to everything you submit.

8. The “Launched with” badge

If you embed our badge, you grant us permission to verify it on your site. Rewards for embedding are subject to verification and may be reversed if the badge is later removed.

9. No guarantee of results

Favors.devis a platform for founders to help one another. We do not guarantee any particular marketing outcome, level of traffic, ranking, conversions, or revenue. Other members’ favors are performed by them, not by us, and we do not control the quality or timing of third-party help.

10. Third-party services and links

The Service relies on third-party providers and may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Favors.dev and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or points, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Because points have no monetary value, our aggregate liability for any claim relating to points is limited to restoring a reasonable points balance to your account.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or its members. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the operator of Favors.dev is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
