Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Favors.dev(“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Service. By using Favors.dev, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address. If you sign in with GitHub, we receive your GitHub username, avatar, and public profile URL.

Profile and project information. Anything you add — display name, bio, avatar, website, social links, and your projects (names, descriptions, URLs, categories, launch dates, and screenshots).

Activity. Your points ledger, requests, favors performed and received, favorites, badges, streaks, referrals, and clicks on tracked links you generate or that drive traffic to your projects.

Messages. Messages you send through our contact form, and emails you send to our addresses (such as mark@favors.dev), including the content, sender address, and subject.

Technical data. Authentication and session cookies needed to keep you signed in, a referral cookie when you arrive via an invite link, and standard log and device data from our hosting provider.

2. How we use information

• operate the Service, your account, and the points economy;
• verify favors, submissions, backlinks, and badge embeds;
• send transactional emails (sign-in links, notifications about your requests and rewards) and optional digests you can turn off;
• display public profiles, project listings, and leaderboards;
• detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and gaming of the economy;
• respond to your messages and support requests.

3. Information that is public

Favors.dev is a public community. Your profile (username, display name, avatar, bio, links, reputation, badges), your listed projects, and your leaderboard standing are visible to anyone. Do not put anything in these fields that you do not want to be public. Your email address and contact messages are not shown publicly.

4. Service providers we share data with

We use trusted third parties to run the Service and share only what each needs:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage;
• Vercel — application hosting and delivery;
• Resend — sending transactional email and receiving inbound email to our addresses;
• OpenRouter — AI grading of feedback and project autofill;
• Firecrawl, OpenPageRank, and ScreenshotOne — fetching public web pages to verify links and capture project screenshots;
• GitHub and Google — optional sign-in and serving project favicons.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Favors.dev and its members.

5. Email

We send transactional emails that are part of using the Service. Optional activity digests and alerts can be turned off any time in your settings.

6. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to operate the Service: secure authentication/session cookies and a short-lived referral cookie. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

7. Data retention and your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can edit your profile and project details at any time. To access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to close your account, email mark@favors.dev. Some records (such as an append-only points ledger) may be retained or anonymized as needed for integrity and fraud prevention.

8. Security

We use reputable infrastructure and reasonable safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Favors.dev is not directed to children and is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. International users

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. By using the Service, you consent to that processing in accordance with this Policy.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, may notify you in-app or by email.
